At Purposes recovery, we use a multitude of different therapies, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, eating disorders & substance use disorders.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment proven effective for addressing issues such as substance use, anxiety, depression, and psychiatric and eating disorders. CBT aims to improve the quality of life by eliminating old habits and negative patterns of thinking. CBT works by giving a person tools to better cope with psychological problems, relieving their symptoms, and allowing for a more successful and hopeful perspective. The therapist will empower the client to become in tune with their thoughts and behaviors such that, over time, they will be able to automatically and without hesitation be able to treat problems independently one day.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that also attempts to unlock and discard negative thinking patterns and strives for improved behavior changes. DBT brings together two opposing ideas, acceptance and change, to bring about comprehensive results that work better than just one. DBT is commonly most effective when the client practices the newly learned or refreshed skills in their daily life. Overland’s therapists use a multitude of different therapies, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat issues with depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, eating disorders & substance use disorder.
